There is a story how people started to use spoon's, spinners to catch fish.

It is said to have originated at a tea party held by an originated lake at which the hostess let fall a small silver teaspoon into the water.

This was immediately gobbled up by a massive pike.

Though there is almost certainly no truth in the story.
